Don’t be alarmed if you see an unusual number of emergency vehicles and personnel at the Union Hospital campus on Thursday morning.
From 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Union and other agencies will be conducting a mass casualty drill in the parking lots east of the Landsbaum Center between 7th and 6 ½ streets
The drill will involve fake weapons and simulated injuries as well as emergency vehicles and uniformed personnel. Participants include Union Health, Regional Hospital Air Evac, IU Health Lifeline, and the Rural Health Innovation Collaborative Simulation Center.
The training is provided by West Central Indiana – Area Health Education Center to better prepare local health professionals and emergency medical personnel in how to respond to a serious community event.
The drill is part of the District 7 Trauma Symposium. District 7 serves Vermillion, Parke, Putnam, Vigo, Clay, Owen, Sullivan and Greene Counties.
