ANDERSON — A 19-year-old Orestes man has been arrested by Madison County deputies and charged with with two counts of child molesting and one count of incest for an incident that was reported in February.
Jacob Bebout was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two Level 3 felony counts of child molesting and a Level 4 felony count of incest. Bond was set at $20,000.
If convicted on the three charges, Bebout could face up to 44 years in prison.
A probable cause affidavit states deputies were called to assist the Orestes Police Department on a report of rape at Kids Talk on Feb. 19.
The girl said she woke up in the middle of the night and found Bebout in her bed. She said her pants were pulled down and that Bebout also had his pants pulled down to the knees.
The girl told investigators that Bebout told her to “stay down or else,” court documents allege. She said Bebout told her she would find out what “or else” meant if she got up.
She told investigators that Bebout at first touched her genital area with his hands and then performed a sex act.
The girl said similar incidents had taken place several times in the past when she was 10 years old.
A family member said they thought Bebout was watching a movie with the girl.
Bebout cancelled an interview with investigators, stating he wanted to have an attorney present.
Registered nurse Holly Renz told investigators that during the taking of a sexual assault kit, there were signs of a abrasion that could have been caused by a fingernail, the probable cause affidavit stated.
